Sensitivity 101

Discover the cause, prevention and treatment of tooth sensitivity.

How Pro-Argin* Technology Works

Tooth sensitivity is never fun, especially when it’s triggered by your favorite food and drink, be it hot, cold, sweet or acidic. The underlying root surface of your teeth is called dentin – it is the layer with open tubules that connect to the nerves. Normally it is protected by enamel and gums, but over time the enamel can get thinner and the gums can recede, exposing open dentin tubules, leaving your teeth feeling extra sensitive.

Enamel Cannot Repair Itself

Enamel is the hardest and most highly mineralized substance
in the human body.
Enamel covers the exterior of each tooth in your mouth and it protects the sensitive dentin from exterior stimuli such as heat, cold and acids.
Once your enamel is gone, it’s gone! Enamel cannot regenerate,
because it does not contain any living cells. Be kind to your enamel!
